Babysittin' Blues

So a WHILE back I posted some fan art of Adventures In Babysitting, one of my favorite movies growing up as a kid. I did three of the planned five and then I kind of forgot about them and did other things. So I had a lull in projects and freelance work so I thought I'd come back to it, here's number four, The Babysitter:

Halloween 2009!

Halloween is almost upon us. What are your plans for this weekend? My girlfriend and I are attending a pumpkin carving party on Saturday. It should be a blasty blast.

Also I thought it'd be cool to watch a horror movie every Friday in October. Last week, we watched Paranormal Activity. I'm thinking of ending the friday night frights (I just came up with that!) with something Ghostbusters or Shaun of The Dead.

Last weekend my cousins and I dined out for pizza and went to Toyota Park's Haunted was pretty cool, not really THAT scary but it was fun times getting ourselves psyched up for it. That clown wielding a chain-saw and chasing my cousin out of line was priceless.

Anyways, I don't remember the last time Halloween was on a weekend. I think its an underrated holiday. So go out there and have some fun!

PS- I hate candy corn by the way.

COMING SOON: Sketchin' Outside The Box

So I attended my first comic book convention as a participant in artist alley this year and I was all kinds of nervous the very first night. But then something interesting happened, this guy came up to my table and was super excited that I was FINALLY at a comic book show. He told me he was a fan of my art. First thought: Wait what? Then he went on to further explain that he followed my deviant art page and he really liked some of the stuff I put on there. He went to asking me if I had an art book because he really dug my line art more then he did my finished pieces. I thought I'd oblige him and show him some of my sketch books that I had stored away in my bag. I would've put them on the table but I didn't have any more room. So he flipped through them and went from asking me if I had an art book to telling me I SHOULD have an art book.

He was a cool guy and I'll never forget him. At my first comic book show, he made me feel like I belonged there, that I can roll with the big boys and most importantly...he made me truly believe in my talents and that my stuff was good.

Thanks, Jonathan.

A whoppin' 200+ pages of sketches, line art, fan art, character design, from the finished to the rough stuff. I hope you check it out!!

Fall Fest Coloring Contest

So work asked me to put together a piece of artwork for a coloring contest to be featured in the next Rylee's Ace Hardware ad to help promote their Fall Fest this year. The ad went out on the 10th of October. I did it in three sections that I would put together later in Photoshop. Here's the final piece put together as well as progress photos:

Mid Ohio Con 2009: Wrap Up

Well I'm back from my trip to the Mid Ohio Con. It was my first time there and only my second convention. Nic and I had such a great time and the convention was a success. I nearly sold out of my book stock, networked with a lot of great creative people, and did some really great commission work for people. I am definitely coming back next year and hope to attend S.P.A.C.E.D. as well. A lot of people I talked to, especially the good folks @ Comic Related told me that I'd fit right into the atmosphere of the S.P.A.C.E.D. convention, so I look forward to doing that too. Well here are some pics of the con! I plan on posting what I ended up walking away with as well as links to all the talented people's sites. Enjoy!
